{Ring Bearer Pillows}

I'm slowly checking things off my list for this wedding! Tonight I finished the boys' ring bearer pillows. I can't wait to see all three of them walking down the aisle carrying these!!

I just need to finish tying the ribbon around the centerpieces, have a trial run for my hair and make up, one more dress fitting, pay the hall, and pick up the tuxes!

Boho Chic

I had an order come in from a very good friend of mine. She needed something "hippy-ish" or "Boho Chic". She had originally wanted neutral colors, but I found this fabric at fabric.com and knew it would be perfect. She agreed! After making the tester dress seen here, I knew I could make this dress without an issue. Isn't it lovely? I made her a matching headband to go with it! I'm currently making her a flower that matches the headband to pin on the front!! I can't wait to see pics of her little lady wearing this!!

Chevron? CHECK! Polka Dots? CHECK!

*Sigh* It's dresses like this that make me wish we had a little girl. Seriously. How adorable is this dress?!
I sat here pondering (yes. I ponder. :P) the fabric choice for this dress. I dove into my fabric closet and came out with this black and white chevron that I had purchased from JoAnn's months ago. I had forgotten all about it! As soon as I found it, I knew it was the perfect fabric for this dress. I dove in again looking for a contrasting fabric and found the large dots but only had enough for the bottom. After searching a bit more, I found the tiny dots fabric (I'm sure there's a real name for these fabrics, but I don't know them) and had enough for the sleeves. How perfect is that?
I was a bit nervous about making this dress because I have never sewn anything with sleeves. For some reason sleeves scare me. I had purchased this pattern after a good friend told me she needed a boho chic dress for her daughter. I wasn't daring enough to try it out on the fabric for her dress though. Instead I used the chev and I am so glad I did because I learned that I CAN make a dress with sleeves AND it turned out perfect so I can sell it! Yay!!
If you'd like to purchase this dress or order a custom dress for your daughter, feel free to shoot me an email! coleescrafts@yahoo.com

{Banners and Birdcages} Wedding Decor

Lots of fun ideas came to me this weekend. I knew getting some rest would help. :) I did a pennant banner re-do. I just didn't love the 1st one I made. Neither did Mr. M. I definitely like the new one better! I think I may have to add a few handmade flowers to it though. It just seems a little plain to me. What do you think?

I'm just realizing I never posted my card "box"! I bought this birdcage online and spruced it up a bit with some silver glitter tulle and some pretty yellow flowers. Isn't it PERFECT?!

Wedding Day Advice?

I know there are things that I am forgetting. I just know it. I have a little over two months to go, so there's plenty of time to grab last minute things, but I wanted to ask fellow brides for advice. What am I going to need in my "Big Day Bag" that I wouldn't have thought to throw in? Anything special I need to remember for the day before or day of? I need some advice, ladies!

{Pennant Banner} Eh...

I was loving this banner until I looked more closely at it. Now I am not loving it.

I'm thinking solid yellow or gray. I feel like it's too busy with two fabrics. I want simple and pretty so I'm really leaning towards a solid light gray with medium yellow embroidery and some pretty handmade flowers on a few of them. Simple and pretty is the look I am going for with this wedding and I just don't think this banner fits that theme. So, off to the fabric store to see what I can find. Wish me luck!

Main Table {Decor}

I have been going to crazy with ideas for the main table. I knew I wanted something to hang across the front of the table, so I got to work on that right away. Now that I'm finished with the banner, I need to figure out what else to put on the table. I have 4 small vases I picked up at Goodwill a few months back. I think I'll have my bridesmaids put their bouquets in those vases.... other than that, I have no idea. I know I want some candles. I just don't know if I want the same floating candle pieces I'm using on the other tables. Decisions decisions! Oh and here's the banner! I just LOVE the way this turned out!!

{Mixed Feelings} Missing the ones I've lost

This wedding has been such an exciting thing for us. After 11 years, we're finally getting married! I am thrilled. I love this man with my whole everything. He's been such an amazing daddy and fiance. He's everything I could ever ask for. Part of me has been feeling a little down though. I always pictured my dad walking me down the aisle and my mom helping me plan every single little detail of this. I never thought in a million years that I would be planning this alone. It's not that I don't love this stuff. Trust me, I do! I am able to let my creativity take over. I just wish I had my mom here to help me. She was much more creative than I am. She made homemade soaps, candles, Christmas wreaths, clothing... all kinds of stuff. I know she would be in her glory with this wedding planning. She loved Brett so much. They had their ups and downs, but I know that she loved him. If she could see the man and daddy that he is today, she would love him even more. I know she would be proud of us for overcoming everything we had thrown at us and creating this beautiful family. I know she would love these three little munchkins like every grandma should probably even more.

My step dad will be walking me down the aisle. Don't get me wrong, I love him and appreciate him more than he will ever know. It's just not how I imagined my wedding. I always pictured my dad walking me down the aisle. I always knew we'd dance to "Butterfly Kisses". I knew this was the way it would be. My dad was my best friend. He'd always be here. He'd give me away at my wedding and we'd both cry. Things don't always go the way we planned them though. He's not here. He's been gone for 7 years. 7 long years. Some days it feels like an eternity since I saw him and other days it feels like yesterday. Part of me has all of this anger bottled up because he should be here! Part of me hurts. I mean literally hurts without him in my life. I picture his laugh and smile and it hurts deep down in my stomach. It hurts that my kids never had the chance to meet him. He would have been such an awesome grandpa. He was the best dad ever. I can only imagine he'd be the same way with my boys. We went fishing, camping, bike riding... really anything that involved being outside. He loved taking us fishing. He's take these buckets and flip them over and we'd just sit and fish. We'd eat bologna sandwiches and chips and drink pop. We'd talk about all kinds of stuff. I miss those days more than anything. I wish I could just have ONE of those days back. Just for one day. Just to hear him and see him and hug him again. He always called me "Gomer" with that silly grin on his face. Until the day he was gone I was "Gomer". I'd laugh every time he said it. I miss that. I miss all of the little things. I was always a Daddy's Girl. Spoiled like crazy. My dad never yelled at me once. Never raised his voice to me. I got away with everything because I was Daddy's Girl.

I never realized how amazing my parents were until they were no longer here. I never thought they'd be gone. I wish I could hug them and tell them how much I love them one more time. I know they knew I loved them. That was one thing about them. We always told each other that we loved each other multiple times a day and for THAT, I am grateful.

{Daisies and Baby's Breath} Time to think centerpieces. Pt. 2

Wow! That was probably one of the most stressful things I have had to do so far! One of the women I was chatting with at Keit's was SET on me using a flower that was no where near what I wanted. I was an ugly yellow with pink and brown. Not even close to the colors I want. The other woman finally stepped in and told her that flower wasn't what I was looking for. We ended up settling on white and yellow daisies (one color in each jar.) with some Fern greens as the filler. I loved the baby's breath, but once she showed me the daisies with the greens, I had to go for it. It looked amazing! I had originally planned on doing the flowers myself, but once she told me it would only be an additional $36 for them to do them, I decided to go that route. One less thing for me to worry about. I am so excited! I'll be dropping the jars off on June 14th and they'll be ready for me on the 20th. One day before our big day! Can't wait!!

The flowers will look something like this. I love the green in there! I didn't think I would, but after seeing, I do! 78 days to go!

{Daisies and Baby's Breath} Time to think centerpieces.

I have a meeting with the florist today. Since I'm trying to DIY this whole wedding, I am hoping to buy some wholesale flowers. Since the beginning, I have been stuck on daisies and baby's breath for the centerpieces. They are simple and beautiful. I honestly can't even think of any other combo I would like. I'm sure they will show me other options, but I think this might be it. Our wedding colors are yellow, silver, and white and I think they just FIT. I found a few examples and I absolutely adore them!!

I mean seriously. Isn't that GORGEOUS?! Add in some baby's breath to fill it in and it's PERFECTION!

Hopefully I can update later today with good flower news! I'm a little nervous since my fiance can't come with me. This is a BIG decision to make on my own. Wish me luck!

100 days to go!

I have definitely been slacking on posting my wedding DIYs. Hopefully I can squeeze in a few more posts before our big day!! Here's what I've finished up so far!!

First up, we've got a ring bearer pillow. I love love love the lace on this! Since we have three little men as our ring bearers, I'm going to make 2 smaller ones for the other two guys to carry.
The centerpieces. These will have fresh daises and baby's breath in them. I can't wait to see the way the lights in the hall make them look. I have a feeling they're going to look amazing!
These are the bridesmaids gifts. (I sure hope none of them follow my blog! lol) I have since filled them with items they'll need for the big day. Deodorant, mints, bobby pins, and some other goodies.
My garter. Looking back, I wish I would have added "something blue" in there. Oh well. I'm sure I can find something blue.
These lovely little flowers are for my bridesmaids. I am going with cute and simple for our wedding and I think these definitely fit!
Squee!! My bouquet! I am so so so so thrilled with the way this turned out! I've changed a few things since this pic. You'll have to wait until the wedding to see the pics of it. ;)
This was by far my favorite project. I am NOT a heels kind of girl. I am all about comfort. I swear to you I will wear flip flops until the first snow. They are just so comfy and easy to slip on! The white pair is mine. I doubt anyone will see them, but I don't care. I love them. The others are for my lovely bridesmaids. I want them to be comfy too!
These don't fit the color scheme of the wedding, but I want the girls to have something cute that they can use every day and I feel like these fit. I hope they like them!!
Last but not least (not DIY either) is my ring! It finally came in and I LOVE it! Seriously, I could stare at it all day. <3

Check back! I'll be posting my last minute DIYs soon!

Ring Bearer Pillow

Mr. M and I are getting married June 21st, 2013. I know most of the time the brides parents pay for the wedding, but since both of my parents are no longer with us, we are paying for this ourselves. I knew right away that I wanted to make a lot of the items myself. I decided that I was going to make the ring bearer pillow one night and kind of threw this together. I absolutely LOVE the way this turned out! I'm sure I'll make a few more to see which one I like best, but this one might be it!!
Let me know what you think in the comments!!
